Frankford Arsenal Cartridge Overall Length Gage

All you need to determine the optimum overall length (OAL) for any cartridge is a cleaning rod, a set of calipers and this Frankford Arsenal Overall Length Gauge Kit. 

This simple kit will attach to any 1/4 inch diameter or smaller cleaning rod by using the two included clamps. The whole process can be completed in a just few minutes.

1. Install the appropriate size tip on the end of your cleaning rod
2. Insert the cleaning rod from the muzzle until it touches the bolt face
   
3. Install one clamp
   
4. Remove the bolt and drop a bullet (projectile only) into the chamber
   
5. Hold the bullet against the rifling with a pencil thus pushing the cleaning forward out of the chamber
   
6. Touch the bullet tip with the cleaning rod tip and install the other clamp
   
7. Now measure the inside distance between the two clamps with a caliper and record, or use as a gauge to check the seating depth set-up during your reloading sequence.
   

The distance between the two clamps is the length of your chamber. This method works on any rifle.
